After working as an understudy in a New York production of Biloxi Blues, Woody Harrelson landed the role of a lifetime as the dufus bartender Woody in the monster-hit sitcom Cheers. The role earned him a number of Emmy Awards and ensured that even when the show ended, everyone would know his name. He proved to be more than just a dimb-witted hunk in feature films like Oliver Stone's uber-violent Natural Born Killers, the comedy White Men Can't Jump and the docu-drama The People vs. Larry Flynt, which garnered him an Oscar nomination.


1. The avid environmentalist/animal activist is a strict vegan, drives a car that runs on biodiesel fuel, made from cooking oil, and regularly stages protests.
