1-MINUTE RESUME FOR JIMMY FALLON
Fallon is still most widely known as a former cast member of Saturday Night Live,
but he's gradually developing a film career, though that transition has
been anything but smooth. His first co-starring vehicle, Taxi, a cop comedy with Queen Latifah, was savaged by critics and tanked at the box office. But Fallon recovered with Fever Pitch,
an Americanized adaptation of Nick Hornby's book that saw a drastic
rewrite during the middle of shooting, when the Red Sox unexpectedly
won the World Series. In the meantime, the actor still finds time to
release the occasional comedy album and song parody and is said to be
in the running for Conan O'Brien's slot when the late, late host takes
over for Jay Leno.
5 Things:
1. He anchored Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update desk with Tina Fey.
2. Fallon was nearly unrecognizable in his big-screen debut, Almost Famous.
3. On SNL, he often broke character and started laughing during sketches.
4. He appeared in a sketch with Mick Jagger while doing a Mick Jagger impersonation.
5. He received a Grammy nomination for his comedy album The Bathroom Wall.
Quote:
On leaving Saturday Night Live:
"The first couple of episodes, you've got to kind of wean yourself off.
Six years I lived in a dorm at Rockefeller Center, sleeping in the same
office as Horatio [Sanz] and waking up there. You miss it so bad.
Whenever I'm around a TV set I'll watch it."
