1-MINUTE RESUME FOR AARON ECKHART
After graduating with a film degree from Bringham Young University,
Eckhart landed bit parts in smaller films, leading up to his big break
in Neal LaBute's In the Company of Men
(1977). The working relationship would prove to be fruitful for
Eckhart, who starred in four more of the director's films, including
2000's Nurse Betty. Worldwide fame (or at least, recognition) came when he played opposite Julia Roberts in Erin Brockovich. He followed with the John Woo-directed Paycheck in 2003, and the lead in 2005's Thank You For Smoking.
5 Things:
1. He bought a motorcycle after learning to ride one for Erin Brockovich.
2. The sports-lovin' dude took three years off after high school to surf in Hawaii and to ski in France.
3. He enrolled as a film major at Brigham Young University, graduating in 1994.
4. Eckhart was Darren Aronofsky's choice for James Gordon for the doomed Batman: Year One project.
5. He's a pet actor to director Neil LaBute, who often casts Eckhart in his films.
Quote:
On his career choices: "I guess I like playing flawed guys 'cause it gives a place for the characters to go."
Awards:
2007: Golden Globe nomination: Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Comedy/Musical), Thank You for Smoking
