1-MINUTE RESUME FOR RACHEL MCADAMS
Rob Schneider will never win an Oscar, but his movie The Hot Chick
introduced someone who might: Rachel McAdams. The Canadian stage
actress moved to Los Angeles and won a role in Schneider's crass
comedy. Soon after, she broke through as a bitchy high-school princess
in Mean Girls, written by another Saturday Night Live alum, Tina Fey. But McAdams truly put herself on the Hollywood map with The Notebook, an adaptation of a weepy book that was a huge hit in 2004 and preceded the surprise hit of the summer of 2005, Wedding Crashers.
Poised for a long career, McAdams is one of those rare actresses that
have comedic timing, dramatic acting chops and good looks to spare.
5 Things:
1. She cleaned up at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards, winning in three of
the five categories in which she was nominated, including Breakthrough
Female.
2. She beat out Reese Witherspoon and Ashley Judd for her role in The Notebook.
3. She was born in the same hospital as actor Ryan Gosling.
4. As a child, she performed in a play about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
5. She lost the Sue Storm role in Fantastic Four to Jessica Alba.
Quote:
On her dream project: "I'm waiting for them to make Thundercats. I would love to be Cheetara."
