Cute, spunky and blessed with a voice that rivals Jessica Simpson's,
Mandy Moore came up with the pop-star sect of the late '90s — Britney
Spears, Christina Aguilera, Simpson, et. al. But the wholesome Moore
never bared her body (or appeared in the tabloids) like her cohorts.
Her good-girl image helped land her the lead in 2002's A Walk to Remember,
about a doomed, super-religious teen. The performance shocked almost
everyone, giving her instant credit as a viable actress. She later
proved she can do the narcissistic teen angst thing (2003's How to Deal), the teen rom-com thing (2004's Chasing Liberty) and crackup comedy (2004's Saved!, in which her psychopathic Bible thumper, Hilary Faye, stole the show.) In 2006 she spoofed her own past in American Dreamz, in which she played a desperate-to-be-famous pop singer.
