1-MINUTE RESUME FOR JULIANNE MOORE
After earning her BFA degree in acting from Boston University's School
of the Performing Arts, Moore touched down in Manhattan, where she
appeared on
As the World Turns. Her three-minute performance as Harrison Ford's doctor colleague in 1992's
The Fugitive gained her some big-screen attention, but it was her turn in
Boogie Nights
that scored her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination and really
made audiences take note. 1999 saw her Oscar-nominated again for her
part in
The End of the Affair, and audiences ate her up in
Magnolia. In 2001, she played the role of Clarice Starling (formerly played by Jodie Foster) in
Hannibal, the sequel to the Academy Award–decorated 1991 thriller
The Silence of the Lambs.
Since then, she's been in what some have termed her "Eisenhower phase,"
playing a variety of dramatic 1950s housewives in films like
The Hours,
Far From Heaven and
The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio.
